General Hospital......The Joy of Roy

There was a time when General Hospital's Luke was half of one of the most dynamic duos in soaps -- and we're not talking about his union with Laura.  In the early '80s, Luke was partnered with fellow adventurer Robert Scorpio and it was a yin/yang friendship that scored with viewers.  Unfortunately, Robert's untimely demise (though no body was found!) left Luke with a gaping hole in the best pal department.  Enter Roy DiLucca.

Presumed dead by everyone in Port Charles, few were as thrilled to encounter Roy alive as Luke.  Having missed and mourned his friend for the better part of 20 years, Luke could barely contain his glee upon realizing that the person who had just saved him from the clutches of nasty Faison was Roy, whom Luke had last seen bleeding to death on a sidewalk.  "What took you so long?" were Luke's astonished first words to his former partner-in-crime.  We couldn't help but laugh.

The chuckles continued as Luke and Roy got re-acquainted.  Helping make the on-screen camaraderie so believable is the undeniable chemistry between GH fave Anthony Geary (Luke) and soap fave A Martinez (Roy: ex-Cruz, Santa Barbara).  Though Martinez is a recast (the role was originated by Asher Brauner), Roy and Luke instantly connected and became Port Charles' version of Butch and Sundance.  There's no one we're happier to see back in the saddle.
