Up-Close and Personal
Musical Interlude

Between his work on GH and his duties as coach for his son's Little League baseball team, A Martinez has had almost no free time to pursue his love of music. But he doesn't mind. The way he sees it, this break from songwriting and recording is preparing him for something grand. That is, if his own family history is any guide.
Martinez explains, "My brother was a really successful motocross racer. There was a time early in his career when he crashed his bike and dinged himself pretty bad. For a while, he wasn't able to race. I asked him if he missed it. He said, 'Yeah, but I'm making progress. I'm thinking about it all the time, and I'm figuring things out.'" Martinez says his brother then spoke for a while about the way in which his perspective was changing. "A couple of months after that, he got himself back together and jumped back on the circuit. He won and won and won and won. He had actually improved while he was away because he had meditated on it."
Martinez feels that the same thing will happen to him. "I'm listening to a lot of music and thinking about what it is that certain people are doing that I think is special," he explains. "So I'm not actually recording, but I'm building toward recording again." Meanwhile, if you'd like to listen to his past work, you can get his old album at www.amartinez.com
