1960's

"I was a wholehearted participant in the peace movement of the sixties.  I really believed in what we were doing, and I believe the effects of our actions are still around.  The Beatles were a major influence on me those days.  That Lennon and McCartney, two great minds, would work in a cooperative mode to create brilliant songs gave the attitude of cooperation among people legitimacy.  That idea became a central part of the 1960s and had a profound influence on me."

Marcy Walker

"It's not as easy to be Marcy Walker as seems apparent to a lot of people on the outside.  She's often the object of envy.  People think Marcy's got it made as an actress because she's so beautiful.  I know that's not the case.  She's a self-made woman.  Marcy is an extremely hard worker and very focused in her acting.  I have a tremendous respect for the work she does."

Fatherhood

"It took a long time for me to feel like I wanted to be a father.  I look back now and realize I was just waiting for the right person to do it with.  When I met my wife Leslie, I knew it was something that I really wanted.  My son is remarkably independent for someone so young.  We're at a stage now that we're able to sit down and talk together independent of toys or any other external objects.  Dakota and I talk about the way people treat each other, the feelings people get when things happen to them and the effect our actions have on others.  I find my son has empathy, which is something not so common for someone supposedly entering the terrible twos."

Zero Mostel

"The most amazing relationship I've ever had with someone in a film was with Zero Mostel.  We worked together in a movie called Once Upon a Scoundrel, and, in retrospect, I know I wasn't confident enough or skilled enough to take advantage of the situation.  He was so energized and had an incredible ability to break from the script and improvise in a scene.  The challenge for me was to hold up my end of the acting.  Working with him was a wonderful experience but somewhat bittersweet because it forced me to measure up to some of my own shortcomings."
