Hollywood Happenings

A Wedding: The day that most Santa Barbara fans have been waiting for -- the wedding of Cruz (A Martinez) and Eden (Marcy Walker) -- finally arrived. I wondered how both actors felt about going through something as heavy as marriage -- even if it was only on screen.
A's Outlook: "One thing comes to mind. (My wife) Leslie and I chose to elope. We did it to avoid a big show because we had very strong feelings about the privacy of the vows a man and woman make. I understand the ritual involved in weddings, but we felt it would be more dignified to get married in private. Now, after this incredible wedding, we might just feel a few twinges of regret at having missed out on a spectacle." and how did Leslie feel about seeing her husband marry another woman? "The bottom line is that acting is my job," A says. "A great deal is always at stake in this demanding profession and you have to maintain a professional approach. I come here every day with a serious attitude. Marcy is a treasure, much more than a friend. She and I make up one of the most important relationships I've ever had -- but it's not comparable to what passes between husband and wife. When I got married, I didn't consciously look for someone who would understand my profession. I found someone I love who is also a very strong person, who doesn't need someone to lean on. I knew that Leslie could be a partner with me without knocking me off my stride. It took me a long time to find her."
Marcy's Perspective: "I admire, respect and adore A. We have a wonderful working relationship, and he brings out the best in me." And yes, it was exciting for Marcy to see Eden have her big moment at last, even though her own marriage to DOOL's Billy Warlock (Frankie) didn't make it. She's handling that fine now and says she is amazed at how nice everyone has been. Marcy also says the divorce was not something she decided to do all of a sudden.
Another View: Frank Tobin, a publicist for SB, had this to say about the long-awaited nuptials: "Their love has survived an earthquake, an avalanche, a shark attack, a miscarriage and a life-imprisonment sentence. Just another dignified courtship."
