Carol's
Cruz2Eden Message Board
Hi guys,
I'm a frequent lurker of these boards, but I don't post much. I just wanted to
tell you guys that A is filming a tv movie in my hometown Winnipeg, Manitoba.
It's an FBI movie and I'm playing the daughter of one of his cop buddies. I have
2 scenes with him. I exchange 13 lines with him.
I just found out today. I'm SO excited.
If anyone is interested I'd be glad to post up about my experience.
I'm just really excited, and nobody I know thinks its a big deal. I kept trying
to explain it to my friend, "You don't get it Jen. I'm going to be acting
with Cruz. You know, the man I've got on my desktop." (She didn't seem to
understand)
Anyways, just wanted to say that.
Bye!

My
first day with A (report from the movie)
June
14, 2003
Hi everyone!
I began filming today. I didn't have any lines today, but I was in both scenes
we filmed. I just got to sit at a table and watch a fight scene between two FBI
characters. (not A)
Anyways, here's the important part:
*warning I'm going to do a completely anal play-by-play of every moment with A.*
I saw A for about 20 minutes. We were in the make-up trailer together! Him and
this other guy have their own make-up trailer for just the two of them, but we
were behind so they snuck me and 2 other girls into their trailer.
Jodi the make-up lady took us and stuck her head into the trailer and asked,
"Do you mind if we do the girls in here?"
A stuck his head out and shouted, "No problemo!"
He was wearing jeans, no socks, and a black t-shirt. His make-up lady was fixing
his eye brows.
He didn't talk for about 5 minutes while she was doing his make-up.
But when he was done with his make-up he got really goofy!
Jodi couldn't find the right lipstick to put on me so she went to go get her
other make-up case.
A came up to me and said, "Hmm... what do ya think Linda (his make-up lady)
should we put some more blush on her!"
I laughed.
He said, "Hey! I'll have you know I'm an expert with make-up!" (He
raised one eyebrow and grinned. I'll just take this moment to say his eyes are
SO gorgeous.)
I said, "Oh really!" (or something dumb like that)
Linda laughed and said, "sweetie don't let him near you with that make-up
brush. I've seen his idea of 'subtle' make-up!"
I laughed and A laughed really loud.
A was about to say something else but Jodi jumped back into the trailer.
We all stopped laughing and she eyed me, Linda, and A suspiciously. She said,
"You didn't let him do any of your make-up did you?" We all burst out
laughing again.
A said something like, "I can't help it. I'm an artiste (said with cheezy
french accent." And then he left the trailer. He came back for a few
minutes later and asked Jodi and Linda if they wanted some sodas. They said no.
That's pretty much the end of it.
My conclusions: He is SO extremely nice. The make-up ladies love him and he is
really easy going. He is such a charmer! And apparently he sucks at doing
make-up. Interesting...
Okay, I'll update when I get to see him again. This is my venting place for my
"love affair" with Cruz.
Hope you guys enjoyed. Bye!
It's
me Mary!!! More from my affair with A!!!

Okay guys, I read the post below. I am so
flattered that you guys read my posts and are interested. It feels really good
to share my experience with people who appreciate it as much as I do.
To answer some of your questions I am an actress living in Winnipeg, Manitoba,
Canada. (lived here all my life) When I say actress I really mean struggling
actress in the strongest sense. This is my first speaking role. Before this I
had done tons of extra work, theater, and I was a ballet dancer with a company
that toured all over Canada and the U.S. (Royal Winnipeg Ballet Company, and the
National Ballet of Toronto)
Anyways, I guess that's all the bio you need. My life goal is to be an actress
working in film. This is my biggest break yet. To have A in the film is just
icing on the cake.
I haven't been back to the set yet, but I am scheduled to be there Thursday at
5:00 a.m. I'm scheduled to do my scenes with A. I was told that I would be there
the entire day. So expect an obsessively long report next Friday or so.
If I can, I'm going to try to get as many autographs as I can. Do you guys have
any specific names that you want him to address them too? I'm not making any
promises but I'd love to get some autographs and pictures for ya. Just post, and
I'll check back before Thursday.
Oh yeah, and it is the Special Agent FBI movie in case there was some confusion.
Okay, have a great day everyone!!!!
- Mary
Okay
guys. Breathe. My affair with A..
June
30, 2003.
All right guys. First off
I'd like to apologize for the wait. I was dying to tell all of you but I knew I
didn't want to do a rush job on this report. Now I've got a whole evening to
sit, relax, and do the absolutely obsessive report I promised. Honest guys, I
wasn't trying to torture any of you. Here goes:
My call time was 5:00 am. I got to the set at 4:50. I wasn't really sure where
to go, but after about 2 minutes of wandering around Jodi the make-up lady found
me. She's a really bubbly person and extremely nice. I was impressed that she
remembered my name. Anyways, (sorry off track), she whisked me away to the
make-up trailer. It was me, 4 other actors, and Jodi and the hair lady. We all
started chit chatting and Jodi mentioned that she was excited that she might get
to meet Richard Gere.
- Okay, side note. Richard Gere, Susan Sarandon, and Jennifer Lopez are filming
a movie in my hometown Winnipeg as we speak. -
Anyways, Jodi said that she's friends with the costume lady working on the other
movie and that she might be able to set up a chance run in with Richard Gere. I
said that that would be sooo great. Then I said, "I would just die to meet
Richard Gere." (important later) Jodi agreed.
I was finished hair and make-up pretty fast. Then I just hung around the make-up
trailer chatting. At about 6:30 They called me and this girl Stacey to the set.
The set today was a police station. I was just sitting in a folding chair
waiting for the set to be ready, when A walked on set. He looked pretty serious
at first. He just came in, talked to the director and walked around a bit. Kind
of quiet. He looked up at one point and smiled at me. Then went back to his
walking.
Pretty soon after that he sauntered over to where I was sitting and sat down in
one of the chairs. This is where my bold move came into play. I looked over at
him and said, "tired?" He laughed and said, "Naw, I'm used to
this." I didn't know what to say next, so I just said, "oh." He
laughed, (maybe out of pity because I can't have a decent conversation) and
said, "don't worry kid, you'll get the hang of it. I like to keep myself
awake by getting my body moving. You know, just get the muscles moving and the
brain will catch up." I just sort of of nodded. He smiled and then said,
"And hey, if that doesn't work there's always coffee!" I laughed and
said something like, "yup." Then his cell phone rang and he talked to
someone name Jim for a bit. Not that I was eavesdropping, but it was something
about getting tickets to something. Not sure.
The hair lady then came over and primped A's hair for a bit. He asked her how
she was doing, and how her daughter was doing with her new bike. (it's cute how
A knows all these little facts about the people he meets. He's either got REALLY
good memory, or he's a really sincere caring guy.) Then Jodi came over and
touched up mine and A's make-up. She said something about this new black dress
she was going to buy and I said, "that'll come in handy when you meet
Richard Gere."
A perked up and said, "Richard Gere!" Jodi told him that she might get
to meet him cuz of the costume lady. She then jokingly said, "but I don't
like to brag because this one here would pay a million bucks to meet him."
(she meant me) A looked at me and I thought he was gonna tease me for being such
a stupid star struck person. But he winked and said, "so would I!" (I
don't know why that shocked me so much. I guess it's because I equate Richard
Gere and A Martinez on the same level, it never occurred to me that A would want
to meet Richard as a fan. Weird"
Okay, by now it was about 7:00 or so. The director called Stacey and I onto the
set and placed us at a table. We were playing friends who were being questioned
by A. The director gave us instructions and told us to act like we really
respected A's character. Not the we were afraid, but that we really respected
his authority. We both said okay. Then the director started walking away to get
behind the camera man. A shouted back jokingly, "hey, what about my
direction?) The director shouted back, "act like a cop!" A laughed and
said, "no problem. I've got plenty of experience with that!" (All I
could think was, Can you say Cruz?)
- Okay this post is REALLY long. I'm gonna put this up and put more in the
replies. Actually, yeah, that's what I'll do, but I'll wait to put up the
continuation until tomorrow. I promise. Good night everyone.
Feel free to ask me as many questions as you want. Who knows, I may have
forgotten something. Also, remember I'm scheduled to do at least 2 more days on
the set. I don't know when, but I will see him again...(Is it sad that I'm
already excited for next time?)
Bye
- Mary
To keep you coming back for the continuation:
- A mentioned Santa Barbara
- He mentioned something about his music.
- Oh yeah, and I found out one of his secret talents!
See ya
-Mary
"Okay,
more from my experience with A"
July
8, 2003
Alright, first off I'd like to say I'm so
sorry for being so slow with the responses. I've been going to auditions left
and right and I hardly have any time left to just relax. I'm not complaining
though, this is what I've always wanted after all. I just feel really bad for
leaving you guys waiting. I'm so sorry.
Here's the rest of my story:
Filming a scene with A was really, REALLY great. Each take he did was totally
different from the one previous to it. I was so astonished at how many different
ways he could say the same line. I'm not exaggerating, it really blew me away.
Anyways, doing the scene felt like it took forever. We shot it 4 different ways
so they could do lots of cuts later. They did a closeup of my "friend"
and I for a bunch of the dialogue. I got to to some great reaction shots. (at
least I hope they looked good.) Anyway, as soon as the scene was over I expected
A to just leave or go talk to the director or something. Instead he came and
shook my hand, and my "friend's" and said good job to the both of us.
It felt SO great. After that he left to go talk to some other people.
I sat on the sidelines and just observed for a long time. (till lunch anyways) A
just walked around talking to the director, producer and other folks. At one
point he looked kind of mad. I'm not sure what he was saying but I heard him say
something like, "Damn, that should have been here by now." The guy he
was talking to said stuff like, "I know, I know. They're saying this is
really unusual." I couldn't really hear much else, but A looked pretty
pissed off. However, as pissed off as he looked, it ended pretty quickly. Before
the guy walked away A told him to have himself a great day and he patted him on
the shoulder. I don't think he was mad at that particular guy at all, just
frustrated with something else. A left for a bit and I didn't see him till
lunch.
The craft service people set everything up outside. We all just sat on the grass
and chairs out by the trailers. A was joking around with one of the costume
ladies and was singing a song. (Not really well, just mostly humming and going
doobie doobie doo.) She laughed and said, "you know, your not that bad. You
should selling a song or something." A mockingly clutched his chest and
pretended he was really hurt. He said, "Oh Linda, I'm hurt! You haven't
bought my cd yet?" She asked if he was serious and he said, "Actually
ya, you know, I dabble here and there." She said she would love to have a
copy and he said he'd be more that happy to get her one. I heard him say,
"Gee, I guess my marketing strategy isn't going to well. How am I gonna win
all those music awards if I'm not as popular as Britney Spears." He was
joking, and they both laughed.
I talked with a bunch of people for a while so I have no idea what A was doing.
But at one point he took a cherry from the fruit basket and I heard him say that
he used to be able to tie the stem in a knot! There you have it, A's secret
talent!!! Technically he said he USED to be able to do it, but I have faith that
he still can.
Anyways, after lunch I went to the costume trailer and had to change my
wardrobe. (I went from wearing jeans and a t-shirt to wearing a tight mini-skirt
and tank top). Back on the set I sat on the side in one of the chairs. A sat
down right next to wear I was and he talked to his assistant Ed for a bit.
Now, at this point I should say that the set is absolutely freezing. They have
fans working the whole time to keep the lights cool, and the air conditioning
was working full blast as it was. Needless to say, in my little mini-skirt I was
freezing cold. However, I didn't say a thing, and I just sat there rubbing my
arms a little bit. Out of nowhere A puts a jacket on my shoulders. I was
startled so I jumped a bit, and then said, "Oh, thanks." He said,
"no problem, just be sure to put it back on the chair over there. I'm not
sure who's it is."
"Sure thing," I said.
He said, "It's a good thing I don't have to wear something like that!"
I laughed. I said, "Actually, being cold is the only bad part. I love the
costume change, it makes me feel like a whole different character."
He sat down in the chair right next to me. He said, "Ahh...And isn't that
what all us actors want to play. As many different roles as we can fit into our
lifetime."
- Now, I don't know what possessed me to say what I said next. I wasn't trying
to be smart or funny, it just came out. Thankfully, he's such a great guy that
he didn't seem to think what I said was rude. -
"For sure. That's why I don't ever want to be tied down to a tv series or
something. " I paused and then realized that soap opera = tv series. I
said, "I mean...um...uh... well not all tv shows..." I was so embarrassed.
He laughed and said, "Don't worry. I know what you meant. But remember, the
better the character the longer you can keep the work satisfying. Better yet,
the better the acting partner, the longer you can keep the work exciting."
At this point all I could think about was Cruz and Eden, Cruz and Eden, Cruz and
Eden!!!!
I said, "In that case you're a very lucky actor." He smiled and said,
"Believe me, I know."
A couple seconds later the director came and dragged A off to do some scenes. I
stayed in that chair for probably another hour or so. Then the director's
assistant came up to me and said that they were rescheduling stuff and that my
scene wouldn't be shot for a couple of weeks. He said I was done for the day.
I had to go and leave. It had been a great day, but I hadn't taken any pictures
of A. Oh well, at least I know I'll be able to next day of filming.
Okay guys, I hope you found the remainder of my report interesting. In
conclusion: A is a very caring guy. He took time out to talk to me, a virtual
nobody, and gave me some good advice. I absolutely love that man! I'm so pleased
that my time so far with him has not been a let down. He is still the same dear
man I imagined he would be. Also, he really is surprisingly like Cruz. I mean
sometimes when watching him talk to other people I feel like I'm watching an
episode of Santa Barbara. He must of really put a lot of himself into the role.
Alright, I'm off to bed. Have a great day everyone. As always, feel free to ask
questions! Bye
- Mary
