SOD:   What class should be mandatory in schools?

A Martinez:  "I always thought it would be great if more people studied acting.  Acting trains you to think about what you have in common with other people.  The constant repetition of that process generates empathy.  It makes you more aware of what other people are feeling as you go through your day-to-day life."

SOD:  If you could listen to only one type of music for a full year, what would you choose?

A:  "L.A. rock.  That's like Jackson Browne, Don Henley, The Eagles, Joni Mitchell, Buffalo Springfield....That's my favorite kind of music."

SOD:  If you were an entry in the dictionary, under which word would people find you?

A:  "Hybrid."

SOD:  What household chore do you hate?

A:  "I don't think I really hate any household chores.  Actually, the thing that I think is the funkiest is cleaning out the fireplace.  I tend to put that off."

SOD:  If you could relive any time period in your life, which would you choose?

A:  "It probably would be college.  I would have adjusted my attitude so I would have spent less time partying and more time studying.  I was at UCLA and there was all this amazing stuff available.  But my main stance was, 'How much can I duck (laughs)?'  I regret that."
